Coach Watson is the Head Coach of the Schenectady High School Flag Football program. He has been coaching flag football at Schenectady since its inception in 2024. He studied at the College of Staten Island, earning a degree in Psychology, and later received his Master's in Physical Education at Brooklyn College.
After leaving NYC, Coach Watson accepted a position at Schenectady CSD in 2001. Throughout his tenure, he has coached various sports, including Football, Softball, Track and Field, Bowling, and Golf at Schenectady. Additionally, he has experience coaching football and softball as well as serving as a strength and conditioning coach for Niskayuna HS.
Coach Watson is Nationally Board Certified in Physical Education and has been recognized as a former Teacher of the Year for Schenectady. He is married to his wife, Kimberly, with children: Daniel, Finley, Avery and Axyl.

The Schenectady Flag Football Program is excited to announce the addition of Derek Adams Sr. as a volunteer assistant coach for our Varsity Flag team. Coach Adams is a former Mont Pleasant HS Alumni, a long‑time contributor to both the Schenectady High School and Belmont Youth Football programs, and he brings decades of experience supporting student‑athletes across our community. He is also a long‑time staff member (retired) of the Schenectady City School District and a proud recipient of the Golden Apple Award — a recognition that reflects his dedication, character, and impact on students.
We are thrilled to welcome Coach Adams to our staff as we continue building a strong, competitive, and student‑centered program.
The Schenectady Flag Football Program is excited to announce Coach Hughes' return to football. He graduated from Springfield College and received a master's degree from Emporia State University. He is New York State Physical Education and Health Certified and has taught in Scotia Glenville, Bishop Maginn, and Schenectady International Charter School prior to working in Schenectady, where he started teaching in 2007. Coach Hughes has coached football and track, and was a varsity assistant for flag football last year.
